The Berlin Institute for Comparative Social Research is currently organising in cooperation with European Research Forum on Migration and Ethnic Relations (EuroFor) a series of twelve scientific conferences regarding the topic of migration policies and management within the next four years (2004 - 2007). This project is partly funded by the DG Research of the European Commission. All twelve conferences will concentrate on current and future political challenges resulting from international migration processes. They seek to provide a platform for debates on new and innovative research as well as policies regarding the management of migration. A further major aim of the conferences will be to develop the participants' research methods through the provision of training. Importance will be placed on the realisation of actual political practice and government strategies from research results. Academics and experts from across Europe will be asked to lend their perspective on current migration processes. There will be a special focus on early stage researchers at the conferences, who will be given the opportunity to present their research results alongside their more established peers. There are 25 Marie-Curie Grants available for each conference, which covers travel and living allowances. Eligible are young researchers holding a degree that provides the access to a doctoral programme; currently writing doctoral dissertations or involved in post-doctorate programmes.
